The Regional Board of Investments (RBOI)-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on approval of the RBOI Board of Governors awarded a Certificate of Registration to Lamitan Agri-Business Corporation (LABCO) on August 2, 2019 at the Office of the Chief Minister –BARMM, Cotabato City.
BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim and RBOI-BARMM Executive Director Eshan Karl Mabang led the awarding ceremony that was also attended by Lamitan City Vice Mayor Roderick Furigay and Unifrutti Tropical Philippines Inc. President Alberto Bacani.
Also in attendance were RBOI Governors, Mohamad Pasigan and Moner Dumama, DTI-BARMM Assistant Secretary, Dr. Abubacar Datumanong and LABCO Consultant, Edwin Ladesma,
LABCO, a Filipino owned corporation based in Lamitan City, Basilan, applied for RBOI registration in order to avail the incentives provided under Executive Order No. 226 otherwise known as the Omnibus Investments Code of 1987.
The company’s Cavendish Banana plantation project is located in a 1,000-hectare area in Limo-ok, Lamitan City with a project cost of Php 1.8 billion.
Upon commercial operations, LABCO is expected to generate a total of 1,467 jobs at full capacity. One hundred percent of its product will be exported to the different countries in Asia and the Middle East. (Source: RBOI/Shamera Acoymo Abobakar/08/2/2019)
